7.5.12

since i've been home...

i got home friday, only to drive back to utah to take hunter to prommy wommy.
so presh.

he cleans up nice and he was sure to inform me that "no, it isn't easy to look that good."
his date was darling and it was a fabulous night.

then we came home and the real party started.
neighborhood children equal the best thing to ever happen to me.
they arrive at my house approximately five minutes after i get home from work, and they stay until bedtime.
and trust me, they're real entertaining.

we have jedi fights.

and nail time.

and of course night games.
[played at six because the kids have a bed time.]

raegan's face makes me smile everytime.

and then we can't forget the date night with my homegirl alg.

she's my most favorite date.
she's quite cute too. :)

aaandd kk is done with school this thursday.
things are about to get crazy! :)

year one, check.

i'm done with my freshman year of college.
my how the time flies!
it was such a great year, i loved [mostly] every single second of it.

it's crazy to think about how my life was one year ago and see just how much it has changed.

i've changed personally.
i've made so many new "best friends."
i can successfully not burn mac and cheese, i'm even going to be brave and say that i can now cook.
i do my own laundry.
i can keep a clean room.
and i can be independent.

well i'm still kinda working on that last one.
ever since i've been home i keep asking my mom for permission to do anything, just a habit.
yesterday she just started laughing and told me that i was 19, i don't need her permission anymore.

that's been a test for the both of us.
she got angry with me the other day and anybody that knows how my mom punishes knows that she told me to give her my phone...
haha jokes on her, i pay for my own phone now. :)

college has been one of the best experiences of my life.
it's helped me find out who i am, it's helped me grow.

alaska made me appreciate my family because they were always there and i missed them so bad.
college made me truly love my family, i could go home whenever i wanted and so i didn't get too homesick. but i still just always wanted to text/skype.

it taught me who my real friends were, the crazy ones i had in high school, and the ones i was able to meet at college.

it taught me responsibility and dedication.

but now it's over, and i'm pumped to have one of the best summer's of my life!
i'm stoked for:

skydiving.
human slingshot.
dallin comes home :) :)
lazy days on the river with my besties.
lagoon.
seattle trip.
neighborhood night games.
ky's wedding.
living the simple life.

if there's anything i've learned it's be happy. live in the moment. surround yourself with people that love you and treat you right. there is something good in everyday. smile, and most of all laugh.

props to carter for taking the picture above.

remember?

remember that time when i was good at blogging?
yea, me either.

once again i'm playing that game of catch up.
bleh.
here goes nothing.

first off, i'm never making a bet again.
carter and i always make bets. the only problem is that i will always win and then the little cheater will make up some dumb rule or just pansy out. so i decided to get real serious about it. the next bet we made, i made a contract. it stated all of the rules, everything.
the contract was even dated and had to be signed.

i was money...i thought.
i lost. i went one for three.
there went my checkings account.

good thing that boy is cute! :)

i always attended hair's mission farewell.
i'm going to miss that kid.
we celebrated him leaving by playing wiffle ball for four hours straight.
[we had a seven game world series.]
carter, hair, and i lost in the seventh game.
trust me, it was a real heart breaker!

good luck in mexico elder hair!

sometimes i like to send melanie some little gems via text.
at the beginning of the year mark and teague had a real peach of a roommate. the kid thought he was a wizard and he told them how he refuses to take his pills for schizophrenia.
mel is terrified of the kid, she will literally hide from him if she sees him on campus.
one day as i was walking home i saw him and i just begged him to take a photo with me...remember that i've only met him once, for about thirty seconds.
poor kid has absolutely no idea who i am.

luckily we got a picture and i texted it to mel.
oh we got a great laugh out of that one.
ole' shipley's a gem.

also that night mel and i were at home when these people came and were playing bigger or better.
all i could find to give them was a crusty bejeweled purple belt.
in return they gave us a pez machine with four packets of pez.
we clearly got the better deal.
and we were pumped.

i also went paintballing weekly.

i was always sporting new bruises.
and no, you never get used to the feeling of being pelted by a paintball.

i also had a little scare last week.
i was watching carter play in his hockey game. it was a great game, they were beating the undefeated team 3-1. there was four minutes left when all of a sudden carter and another kid collided. carter hit the ice and was knocked out for two minutes. for two minutes he just laid there absolutely motionless. by the time i got down there the ambulance was coming and he still hadn't woken up.

he did wake up and he was hauled off in the ambulance to the er.

three nurses, one doctor, and two hours later he was released.
luckily he's fine, just a concussion and a little whiplash.
not the best night.

i'm so glad he's fine. but now he feels like he has to "train his brain" once a day.
personally i think he just likes playing the train your brain games on his iphone.
he's a gem.

other than that i've just been soaking up the summer sun!
hallelujah that finals are over! :)

hellloooo summer.

life as of late...

my freshman year is coming to an end...
in about three weeks, but who's counting?
i am so excited for this summer, i've got so many fun things planned!
things like:
-coaching and 11-13 year old softball team with some of my best friends
-getting my cna
-dallin comes home
-3 on 3 tournaments with my home girls
-a trip to seattle with the lloyds
-ky's getting married
-hanging out with my best friends for three months
-and going back to living at home

but as excited as i am, i really am going to miss all of my friends here in logan.
sooo for the next three weeks i'm just going to live it up with them....
and get in a little bit of studying. :)

lately it seems like i've been going home a lot,
[which is fine with me]
i've spent some good quality time with this kid.

he's a gem.
i got to go watch him play baseball for the first time this year.
i'll give it to him, he's pretty good.

but i mostly just enjoyed rocking my baseball shirt and catching up with this fellow.

my easter sunday was spent in the nursery with this cute little lady.

after church i was at home helping mack make a poster when kk ran into my back door.
oh that was a joyous reunion.
then we had one of the greatest baseball games i've ever played in.
a ton of the neighbor kids came over and we split into teams,
[boys against girls of course.]

we accidently put the bases to far apart, so it was like running a marathon to get to each base but it was a blast! then we went to mess around with some of dan's shockers. they are supposed to be used to relax tense muscles, but of course we turned them up too high and so it was just painful. but it kept us entertained for a good two hours.

but honestly, kk and i are weirdos.
most anything could entertain us..

once i was back in logan, cath gave me a call and asked me to come play on her volleyball team because their setter wasn't able to make it.
i don't love volleyball, but it was sure fun to go and play.
the whole team was pretty rusty and so i'm sure we were more comic relief than anything else but it was so fun.
carter even came to watch.
he figured he would be a good supporter because i go to all of his hockey games.
what a gem.
...unfortunately he held my phone and so i came back to find these little gems:

and then he treated me to some jamba after the games.
it was heavenly.

and if you're wondering, yes i do go to school.
although it usually turns into this.

and then there was this last weekend.
i came home to play in a 3 on 3 tournament with squid, sierra, and dal.

when i got home on friday i pulled into my driveway to see that my dad had brought home the challenger from work.
oh boy i was pumped.
mack and i begged him to let us take it for a ride and he finally gave in.

let's just say we went...well we went pretty fast.
it was great.

the next day i headed into burley to play in the tournament.
it was beyond fabulous to see these ladies again.

we did more catching up/talking than playing basketball, but i don't mind.
we ended up taking third.
not too shabby.
and we're going to play in a few more this summer. i cannot wait!

so that's a little bit of what i've been up to.
i love it up here in logan, but i'm ready for summer.
anndd did i mention, only a month and a half until this boy comes home

of course he'll be a few years older, and a little bit balder.
but i couldn't be any more happy!
i sure miss you elder breshears!

3.4.12

oh instagram.

instagram makes this whole blogging thing a real challenge.
i mean i've been taking lots of pictures, they just don't always end up on my blog.
struggle.

i will try to be better.

one of the things that i did get a picture of was my night of breaking the rules.
carter and i went and saw a movie and i was craving some aggie ice cream, so we snuck some in.
[do not judge us.]

and trust me when i say it was delightful!
we're gems.

30.3.12

paintballing!

if you read my last post then you know about jeffrey...

all i know is that it's a good thing when i got in to donate he doesn't have to look at my legs, because they're pretty bruised up at the moment.
i went paintballing for the very first time yesterday.
why was i not aware of how fun it was?!

kinsie and i mentioned to the boys that we wanted to go and so of course they set it up.
we headed up to the canyon and found a little course to play on.

we broke up into teams and then the games began!
i'm a little trigger happy... i couldn't just shoot once i had to shoot about twenty different times!
and then i'd be so focused on the one person i was aiming at the i would get drilled from behind!

my legs paid a dear price but it was so worth it!

carter kept kicking everybody's trash and so on our last game we decided that it would be all of us against him. we all turned around and let him go hide and then we started looking for him. i decided to be so sneaky and climb into the woods a ways and then hide behind this rock i had found. as i was making my way through the trees i was looking at kinsie . i looked away and then i heard all these shots being fired at me. i looked back at kinsie and i was yelling, "kins what the crap we're on the same team!" only then did i realize that it was carter shooting at me!

then i got so scared i didn't even try to shoot back i just booked it down the hill...where i fell and kinda rolled down. but i was safe.

luckily.

i cannot wait to go paintballing again!

jeffrey.

i've made a new friend.
clearly his name is jeffrey.
jeffrey is the bruise control man over at the plasma center.

the first time i met him i informed him that i really was fine, i just happened to bruise very easily.
he used to not believe me, he thought that i was just telling him that so that i could still donate.
but trust me, he knows now!

twice a week they have to call jeffrey in to look at the bruising on my arms,
those needles get me every time.
usually my bruises are pretty small and so he just counts it as an arm discoloration and not a real bruise.
well last week when i went in they poked me and missed my vein. because of this they had to start fishing around for my vein and it took them a little bit. it also made my vein swell and so of course i got a monster bruise out of it.
the thing starts curving around my arm. it's not so attractive.

so of course when i went back in this week they called in ole' jeffrey.
we're kind of on a first name basis now.
luckily, since we're buds, he passed me off and just let me donate out of the other arm.
such a gem.

he always tell me that he doesn't want to see me the next time i come in.
so far it hasn't happened yet, but i'm working on it!

here's to happy bruising!
