how do i look j carr?

last friday mel, ky, the neighbors, carter, and i decided that we wanted to go to the hockey game.
carter had hockey practice and so he would meet everyone in there, and i had a late class and some homework due before midnight so i knew i'd be a little late to the game, so they would just save me a seat.

i was in the library finishing up my assignments when i got a call from j carr. he said he was bored so i told him to come chill in the library with me and then he could ride into the hockey game with me when i was done. he came and joined me and then the library closed on us!
who knew the library closed early on the weekends?!

[and p.s. i've been in the library until closing for 4 days in a row. i may just move out of my apartment and into the library. boo.]

so j carr and i headed over to my apartment to get everything all finished. after i finished i was trying to get dressed to go sit in the hockey rink. one problem: mel wasn't home.
i had nobody to ask how my outfit looked, so i turned to j carr.
the conversation went a little like this.

brin: uh j carr...i need you to come back here for a second.
j carr: ok what's up?
brin: how does this look? i mean i know that my sweatshirt is one shade of blue, and my hat is another, but can i pull it off for tonight or is it just way too ridiculous?!
j carr: uh brin, i don't know...i'm not really the one you want to be asking about this.
brin: i know j carr but mel isn't here to tell me and i really need to know.
j carr: uh, ok...well yea, it looks kinda funny...
brin: crap. well what about if i do this! *as i grab my blanket and wrap it around me* see, this way you can't even see my sweatshirt so nobody will know, and it's in the hockey rink so it's totally acceptable for me to bring in this blanket.
j carr: ok that looks way better!!
*awkward silence*
j carr: ok yea, i feel super gay right now. never ask me to do that again.

i have such great friends. :)
thanks j carr for your wonderful fashion help, i really needed it.
and i looked totally fine with the blanket wrapped around me. :)

this sememster.

i think it's safe to say that i love this semester way more than the last,
and trust me, i loved last semester.

this semester may be our last with ky, due to some special "man friend" she seems to have a fancy for. :) so we've decided to make it fabulous. we spend our days cramming all three of us into the small bathroom most mornings just because we all want to talk as we get ready. we then go to school, come home and do homework pinterest.
(ok not really, i promise dad i really am studying my life away.)
we still take our usual zeppe's run, and we throw in some aggie basketball every now and then.

sundays are still designated nail nights, even if the neighbors are over.
they're used to watching us paint them, they even give us ideas now.
such gems. :)
we're sure going to miss ky, but at least she will still be in logan, and we're going to party with her as much as we can while we can.

on a happy note, i get to hang on to this girl.

and boy am i happy about that!
i don't even want to think about where i'd be without her. we joke that we're destined to be old cat ladies who end up living together for the rest of our lives, but hey i think i could handle that. we seem to have fun together. :)

another fabulous thing that this semester has brought is all kinds of new friends. through all of my different classes i've met so many fun, new people. some of the ones we're with the most are our fabulous neighbors, and carter. they seem to enjoy our company, and we sure enjoy theirs. we've done all kinds of fun activities, including hockey games, basketball games, and ice skating.

carter and i.

adam and mel.

ky and braden.

they keep us laughing.

we've also started sunday dinners with the neighbors.
yesterday carter made hamburgers, mel made cake and punch, and i successfully baked banana bread.
[no smoke alarm scares either.]
i really enjoy only having to cook every other week, and getting to spend time with my fabulous friends.

it's been fun, and it will only get better.
this is the good life.

26.1.12

just a little fire.

so yesterday as i'm in class i start getting all these weird texts asking me if i've been cooking or if i've been setting off any fires lately. then i get on facebook to see a message from ky saying the same thing about a fire.
i was so confused, the messages were coming from different people so i didn't know if it was an inside joke that i was missing out on or what.
regardless, i was feeling pretty dumb.

finally somebody clued me in.

turns out there was a fire in the institute building, and the first thing that came to every one's mind was why was brin cooking in the institute building?!

i'm just so happy that my cooking hold such high standards in everybody's minds. :)

p.s. it wasn't my fault.
i didn't cook at all yesterday.

check one off my bucket list.

so i'm pathetic, and i've never been ice skating.
i'm a deprived kid, right?
well last saturday i finally got to go for my very first time!
and i loved it!
and i only fell once so that made it even better! :)

and now i have a new respect for ice skaters, because it is so hard!

after that we watched another hockey game,
where there was a lot of fights. :)
day equaled made!

date night!

our neighbors, being the gems they are, planned out such a fun date for mel and i.
it started out with a fabulous meal at firehouse.

after that we got a little crazy.
we decided to travel around campus and take pictures on every statue we could find...
aaaannd since i have a new, fun little camera i thought this was the most perfect idea!
we left firehouse and as we were driving we passed a hotel, so we figured why not stop in and act like we were staying there.
...and mel gets embarrassed really easily so we did it to embarrass her.

see, she/s embarrassed already!

just having some dinner.
no biggie.

so while we were in the elevator mel and trev decided to take a jumping picture...well mel jumped too high and smacked her hand on the ceiling, which resulted in us laughing until we were in tears!

and then when braden and i jumped we were a little bit more cautious.

after that we headed up to campus.

french fries

squares

some smart guy.

leaning towers.

a teacher and students.

just being crazy while driving.

you just can't forget about the bull! :)

merlin olson.
you become a true merlin olson aggie if you kiss him, so of course mel and i did. :)

bus stop benches.

after that we headed to these red circle statue things.

as this guy was taking our picture we see a cop car pull up, we figured he was going to tell us that we couldn't be on the statues or something.
instead he hopped out and said, "hey i just got called somewhere but as i was driving by i saw you and this looks fun! can i be in a picture with you?"
he was the coolest, nicest cop ever. and it turns out we have psychology together.

i feel as if we are going to be best friends. :)

and after that we of course headed to the a.
no worries, i'm still not a true aggie!

oops :)

after that we headed home where we made a fun little fort, had a pillow fight, then watched a movie.

just rockin' some red pants!

every day is a slipper day.

it was a pretty fabulous night.
i'm so glad that we were finally able to meet our nieghbors,
and i'm especially glad that they're such fun people!
thanks boys for the fun night!
