22.11.11

week three.

i got so excited about being home last night that i forgot to do my week three post.
better late than ever, right?

november 15th:
my home in idaho.
i love being at my real home. when i arrived yesterday i was almost amazed you could say. there was enough food in the fridge to last probably a month! everything was spotless. and i had a big bed waiting for me upstairs. it wasn't that any of these things shocked me, it was just that i had forgotten how amazing my house was. i also had all of my family here and it was so good to talk and catch up with them.

november 16th:
old friends.
i love all of the new friends i've made at college and i wouldn't change them for the world, but it's always nice to get to come home and hang out with some of my old friends. i get to see sierra, lis, and squid tonight and i couldn't be more happy. oh how i've missed them.

november 17th:
snow.
when it snows in logan, it snows a lot! but then the wind doesn't come and make huge drifts! i have loved walking outside and playing in all of the snow. i went with mel to check our mail and when we started to walk home we decided we needed to run because huge snowflakes were coming down. we started running and three steps later i ate it right in the middle of a huge pile of snow.

november 18th:
my education.
i just signed up for next semester. it's going to be a tough one. but i wouldn't change it for the world. i love utah state and i am so glad that i can call it my home for now!

november 19th:
cars.
they get me where i need to be. from logan to burley. and i couldn't be more happy about that!

november 20th:
pinterest.
yep, i am now addicted. i think i may have to get my own account now. i've tried to avoid it for as long as i could but i finally broke down and tried it. how did i live without it?

november 21st:
the gospel.
i don't know how i could ever live without it. alaska was hard, really hard. and i know that without the gospel i would have really struggled. i love how god has a plan just for me, even if i don't know what it is just quite yet. i love the gospel.

17.11.11

registered.

well i'm all registered for next semester...
finally.
it took long enough.

by wednesday i had my whole schedule planned out and ready to go.
i knew that i had to get on right at midnight because since i am a freshman i had to register last and the classes i needed were quickly filling up.
so at midnight i logged on,
along with every other freshman at utah state.

freshman overload,
and the next thing i knew the whole system was broken.

awesome.

and that's when i started to freak out a little bit.
nobody knew when it would be working again and so none of us knew if we should stay up or just go to bed.
i was really nervous about going to bed and waking up and all of my classes being full so the roomies and i decided to pull an all nighter.

our night went a little like this:
-your team.
-blog stalking.
-facebook creepin'.
-pinterest.
-etsy.
-and trying to reload the server every 5 minutes.

finally at 3:30 a.m. we got the munchies, so what did we do?!
mickey d's run.
probably not the smartest choice but it sure was fun!
so we ordered our mickey d's went home and kept trying to pull up the server.

finally around 4:30 a.m. we were able to log on and register.
there were still a few problems and it was still pretty slow,
but i got into all my classes.
and good think i stayed up because they are all completely full today.

so i went to bed at 6 a.m. this morning
with a full stomach,
and all registered for next semester!

15.11.11

it's just one of those days...

today is just one of those days.
the crusty crust kind.
and im really lovin' it today.

i stayed in my pj's, did some laundry, and caught up on my homework.
it's been real nice.

10 of my favorite things from today:
1. a real nice game of your team.
2. laying in my bed until about 11:30 just because i can.
3. pony tails on top of my head.
4. italian ice with the roomies.
5. the feeling of all my homework being done.
6. a clean house.
7. prison break.
8. knowing my laundry will be done here real soon.
9. having my schedule all planned out for next semester.
and finally,
10. i'm headed home for thanksgiving break a week from today.

life is so good right now.

14.11.11

i'm basically famous.

see that guy, white face, fist in the air?
ok now look barely to the right...mouth wide open, little tiny head.
yea, that's me.

this lovely picture was on the front page of the utah state statesman!
yea, everyone at utah state saw it.

i'll be signing autographs anytime.
that's all.

week two.

november 8th:
my warm bed.
after sleeping in the cold for two night in a row, trust me it was real nice to be able to jump into my nice warm bed covered in blankets. and i didn't have to sleep with anyone. i was all alone, comfy and warm. i never really realized how much i loved that little bed of mine until i had to go without it.

november 9th:
toilet paper.
so yea, we ran out of toilet paper the other day. trust me, toilet paper is one of those things you don't appreciate at all until you're actually using the bathroom and realize your out. but worse than that you're not just out of the roll that is beside the toilet, but you're out of all of it.
thank heavens for roommates!

which leads me to this...

november 10th:
roommates.
i lucked out with roommates. all of them are incredible. so incredible in fact that 3 of the 4 of us are going to live together again next year. (becca is going to go on a mission.)
want to know a little bit about them?
perfect.

becca: kind of the "mother" figure of our home. she seriously gives the best advice. i don't know how many times all four of us will be laying on someones bed with our problems and becca knows the answer to all of them. she is super outgoing and has a jillion friends. sometimes she dresses us up and i love those days. she shows us crazy you tube videos and always has us laughing. i am really going to miss her next year!

kyler: the dating machine. she always has a date. i don't even know all of their names, i refer to them with things like "good teeth guy", "bus boy", etc. ky is always up for snuggling on a twin bed to talk about life. she is full of the greatest stories i've ever heard. she always has us laughing. ky and i do our nutrition together and she always makes it interesting. she also always surprises us with the best facebook messages on a daily basis...did i mention she's a pro creep?

mel: well i already described mel so yea...

november 11th:
skype.
skype is one of the greatest inventions known to man. in just one click i can connect with my family and friends back in idaho for a little chat...and i skype call cath who lives 500 feet away on a daily basis.
[don't judge]

november 12th:
missionaries.
i got to watch my cousin open his mission call this week. not only that but i've had 4 other cousins return from missions, and my brother is serving right now. plus the countless number of friends i have who are either serving, or going to serve. they are such great examples to me and i always look up to them. keep up the great work!

november 13th:
my personality.
i'm pretty weird, and a little crazy, but i love being me. it was hunter's birthday on this day and so i talked mel into making a birthday shout out with me. it includes a rockin' rap, some opera, and some nerds. it's weird, but it's funny. i love who i am and i am so glad to be me.

november 14th:
crusty days.
sometimes you just have to have them. and i love when i do. you guessed it, today i have a crusty crust day...and i'm lovin' it!

13.11.11

somebody please help me!

i've got some really funny videos saved up.
trust me, you would want to see them.

the only problem is that whenever i try uploading them it tells me i have an error.

does anybody know how to fix this?

]:

happy birthday young one!

this kid is now 16.

where do i even begin on what to say about him?
the kid is amazing.
we've definitely had our rough times,
in fact there was a time when i'm pretty sure we both despised each other!
but now, i can't imagine life without the kid!

16 of my favorite things about hunter are:
1. he is probably one of the funniest people i know. one of the things i look forward to are the text messages we send each other. we usually send weird random pictures to each other every day. and i love it. i don't know where he comes up with half of the things he says.
2.he cares about me. and i don't care if he will admit it or not because i know he does. he's one of the main reasons i made it the whole two months in alaska. it seemed like whenever i got to my lowest point he would send me a a random text or give me a call.
3. he is so smart...maybe doesn't always show it, but trust me, it's there. the kid is a math GENIUS. seriously, i'm jealous.
4. he's an awesome athlete. he plays like a champ. i wont comment on his choice of teams to love, but he really is a rockin' athlete.
5. he takes real good care of my baby (the orange jeep) while i am away here at college.
[minus that one time he took it mudding.]
6. i love when i come home to visit and he comes and lays in my bed and we just talk about anything and everything.
7. i trust him and he is always willing to listen.
8. he honors his priesthood. one day he will make a girl real lucky!
9.he's a good example to everyone who watches him, and especially to mack.
10. i love how my senior year of high school hunter would hang out with me and my friends. he was never a nerdy freshman, he always fit in.
11. he's always up for a crazy adventure...like coming to a basketball game with me!
12. he rocks at tricks on the trampoline. it may sound dumb but seriously he's insane.
13. we make up weird nicknames for each other and we call each other these names more than we do our real names.
14. he never ever complains. he always makes the best out of everything. even if it isn't far to him. he always sees the very best.
15.he loves canton runs almost as much as i do.
16. he always has the coolest shoes!

happy birthday hunter i hope you had such a fabulous day!
you deserve it!

12.11.11

it was all worth it in the end.

sleeping in a tent for two nights
being over heated the first,
and under heated the second.
checking in three times a day at ridiculous times.
going 48 hours on 4 hours of sleep.
standing in line for  6 hours straight.
and racing 1,000 other kids in the spectrum for the best seats,
totally worth every single second!

friday after we had cleaned up our tents and gone to class,
we waited in line to get seats at the game.
[camping out guaranteed that we had a seat,
but it didn't guarantee that it was a good one.]
so for six hour we stood and waited.
and waited.
and waited.
and waited.

some of our group.

the three of us that camped out thursday night.
[brando got sick.]

mel and i owe mark big time for getting us a ticket!

so stoked for the game!

nat was in our group too!

tons of people packed together!

at 5:30 they opened the doors so we could get a seat.
talk about a mad house!
people were pushing and shoving and you gave the lady your activity card, she swiped it and then it was a mad dash to get a seat.
imagine thousands of kids scrambling for great seats.
but our group was a champ.
half court, seven rows up.
we were pretty happy campers!

our seats were awesome!
and it was a FULL house!

and i knew utah state fans were crazy and rude but i didn't know how bad it really was!
the signs people made were insane!

sorry it's backward, it was the best i could do.

the pope!

you can't see it very well but on the right there is a full sized poster of darth vader to go with the poster.

poor davies, we showed him no mercy!

the spectrum was so loud!
when something happened it was so loud you couldn't even hear yourself screaming.
i loved every second of it.
and at the end of the game it was all worth it to see this:

and we were happy.
[disregard the crustyness of these next few pictures, we were exhausted.]

tent buddies!
last night i got to sleep in my own bed.
all by myself.
alone.
and i was warm.
and i slept like a baby.
last night was perfect you could say.

24th street

if you read the previous post then you're probably wondering what the morgan story is.
well let me just fill you in on that lovely little story.

my cousin was opening his mission call that night and my aunt texted me and told me she would love to have me there.
it had been quite a while since i had seen any of them and so i told mel we were making a little road trip that night.
i was also going to meet up with my grandparents since they lived in the same town as my cousin.
we got both of their addresses and headed to my car to leave.
mel tried to program both of the addresses into judy, my gps, and guess what,
she was real dumb.
she wouldn't pick up either of the addresses!

so that's when i decided to be brave.
i knew how to get to ogden  so mel and i just started driving.
we hit ogden just fine and we pulled into a gas station to ask for directions.
there was a sweet little gem working that day and she pointed me where to go and sent me off.
one problem:
she gave me the wrong directions!
[i still am not happy with her.

so we take her directions and the next thing we know we are passing all of these weber state signs.
i call my cousin ryan and he starts telling me to turn right on 24th street.
[from where i'm from directions are not street signs, they are the colors of houses and somebodies dairy.]
what the heck is 24th street?!
as mel and i are looking we notice the street signs, and this is how they went:
21st street, 23rd street, and then 25th street.
24th street wasn't even there!

so then we call my grandpa..
same story.
something about 24th street and riverdale.
no idea where either of those are.
by now we've been lost for about 3 hours and mel and i start freaking out.
we take a turn and end up at some dead end.
we both start crying and then just screaming,
and then we start laughing because it happened to us again.
we suck and not only driving but at that moment life!

so mel decides she needs to make a restroom stop so we find a gas station.
[more power to us, we did find a gas station!]
mel goes to the bathroom and i ask the lady for directions.
why do i still trust these people?
well she tells me to go to the stoplight and get on 24th street.
i asked if that meant i turned left or went straight.
she said get on 24th.
i asked left or straight.
we went through that conversation for about 3 minutes.

finally i said ok will you just take me outside and point me in the right direction?
after she was done looking at me like i was a total idiot she took me outside and pointed to where i was supposed to go.
[p.s. we were supposed to go left.]

we took a left and we finally made it to morgan.
and it only took us 3 hours.

oh yea, my cousin is going to columbus, ohio,
and he will do great things!

11.11.11

thinkin' skinny.

welcome to my humble abode.
the lovely little tent shown above has been my house for the past two nights.

[fun facts about my home]
-it's a one man tent.
-we had four people sleeping in it.
-one of those people was mark knobbe.

the byu vs. utah state basketball game is today.
i knew it was a big deal, and i knew that i wanted to go.
so on wednesday morning brando ran to the spectrum to wait in line for tickets.

the way they worked it this year was a certain number of people could get tickets that would guarantee them a seat at the game.
you had teams of 6 (ours is a team of 4) and the "rules" were that you had to get a wristband, check in three times a day, and everyone in the team camps out.

my cousin opened his mission call wednesday night and so mel and i went to morgan to watch him open it.
[that drive is a whole different story in itself.]
but while we were down there we asked if we could borrow a tent and some sleeping bags.
when we got back to logan we met up with mark and brando to go set up our tent and that's when we realized it was going to be a snuggly night.

you may think that we all clumped together to get us all in the picture...
[we didn't.]
it was a tight squeeze.

our supplies included:
-one body pillow for our heads.
-we used our sleeping bags as padding to lay on.
-4 pillows.
-7 blankets.
-3 pairs of socks.
-running tights/thermals.
-sweats.
-under armour/ thermals.
-long sleeved t-shirt.
-sweatshirt.
-gloves.
-hats/head wraps.
-flashlight.
-phones.

we dressed real warm because it was supposed to be a really cold night.
it was a whole 25 degrees when we were setting out tent up...

and i bet it was a cold night.
when brando woke up, his gloves had frost on them.
but i was anything but cold all night.

i was taking off my clothes all night due to the fact that there was so much body heat in our tent.
when we woke up not only was there a huge stack of blankets on us, but there were random pieces of clothing piled on top.
all four of us were ripping off clothes all night.
i woke up in a long sleeve shirt, running tights, and socks.

it was such a fun night.
as we were setting up the tent we were all just laughing because we had no idea how we were all going to fit.
once we situated everything the best we could we all piled in.
mel and i were in the middle because we were afraid we would get cold.
[who were we kidding?!]
the two boys were seriously right up against the walls of the tent.
they were bulging out and we were waiting for the tent to rip any second.
but even that is not all.
once we all layed down we soon realized that you couldn't lay in whatever comfy position you wanted.
no, everyone had to spoon facing the same way...
and if you got uncomfortable, you just counted to three and everyone turned over to spoon the other way.
we were very in sync.

we had to be set up by 10 and so by midnight we realized there wasn't much left to do so we all started to drift off to sleep...
except the girls in the tent right behind us who thought they needed to talk until 3 a.m.
but the guy in the tent right next to us slept just fine,
we know this because we could hear him snoring all night.
and then mel started to sleep talk.
[funniest time of my life.]
she started to hyperventilate and say she couldn't breathe so mark was trying to help her, thinking she was awake.
the two of them were having a full out conversation, which woke brando and i up.
we started laughing and then mel woke up...
she had no idea what was going on.
p.s. this was at 2 in the morning.

so we stayed up and talked for a bit longer,
we then turned around for a comfier position and went to bed again.

the next morning we awoke well rested and rejuvenated hot, uncomfortable, and so tired.
as we unzipped our tent this kid walked by looked into our tent started laughing and said, "are you kidding me?!"
trust us, we wish we were!

utah state you better play real good because i sacrificed two night of sleeping for you!
i love college!

7.11.11

swimming

mel's family came up to logan this last weekend because her brothers had a basketball tournament.
they asked us if we would like to go swimming with them and of course we could not turn them down.
so mel and i went to dinner with riki and once we were finished we headed home and put our swimming suits on.

seriously, it was 2 hours of sheer heaven.

we threw her two brothers while they tried to do cool tricks,
and we also played and intense game of what time is it mr. shark.

and since "planking" is so last week, mel and i have started "squirreling."

did i mention we're doing noshember?

[no shave november]
{facepalm}
we're on day seven and i'm already nastied out.

did you know leg hair rubs and hurts?
because i sure didn't!
but trust me,
i do now!

week one.

ok so i didn't want to have one short little post of something i was grateful for every day this month so i just decided to make a weekly one.

november 1st:
my family.
they are everything to me. i'm a little ashamed to say that i didn't realize how much they meant to me until i went to alaska. but trust me, i know now.
my dad is the greatest guy i've ever met. he would honestly to anything for me, who am i kidding, he DOES do everything for me. he's always texts me to just check on how i'm doing. he's hilarious, dashing, and my hero.
my mom is so incredible i honestly don't even have the words to describe her. one day i hope to be just like her, and i've noticed myself acting more and more like her everyday. she always knows just what to say and i would be so lost without her.
dallin is my idol. he listens and gives the best advice, even if it's not what i want to hear. some day he will make some girl real lucky...even if he is a little bald. [: he has an incredible voice and an even better testimony. did i mention he's a genius?
hunter keeps me laughing. we send each other pictures every day and i love it. i love the random texts but my favorite is when i come home to visit and everyone else is in bed and hunter comes and we lay on my bed and talk about life. he's a stud and i would never change the kid for anything.
mack is my baby. i hate and love that he is growing up on me. i find myself worried about him all the time. i mean seriously is he really old enough to have a facebook?! he has the funniest personality and i would truly be lost without the kid.

november 2nd:
 melanie
i cannot explain how lucky i was to be able to room with her. we're crazy most days, but we can have some of the best talks. we share everything...even sometimes our bed. we have more inside jokes than anyone else i've ever met. she's the greatest for real. where would i be without her?

november 3rd:
the temple.
we live so close to the temple that i have started to go on run and just run straight to the temple. i just love that place. it makes me so happy and no matter what kind of a day it is, five minutes at the temple make it all better.

november 4th:
food.
lame, i know but we just recently re-stocked our fridge. goodbye one meal a day. i love that i can open my fridge and see such a fabulous selection of goodies inside. really, it makes me really happy inside!

november 5th:
my running shoes.
in alaska my running shoes were a way for me to escape. when i needed to be alone i'd lace those little babies up and away i'd go. here at college i don't put them to as good of use as i should but i try. and when they do get used it's sheer heaven. i love the feeling of just running and clearing my head.

november 6th:
my blog.
just the other day i was reading through some old posts and there were things from just last month that i had already forgotten about. i then opened my alaska book and it was crazy all of the little things i had written down that had long been forgotten. this blog has let me keep so many memories and i love it!

november 7th:
the library.
i could spend hours in there. imagine this: chairs that feel like heaven, cute boys, and silence. yep, it's fabulous. it's been my napping area, study place, and boy scoper. i could probably spend hours every day in the library!

2.11.11

i LOVE fall.

i've never loved fall as much as i do this year.
the trees, the weather, and cute fall clothes.
life couldn't be better.

yesterday mark and j carr took mel and i on a picnic in the canyon.
not only was it so fun but it was GORGEOUS up there!
mark bought the worlds biggest lunchable.
he also threw in kit kats and capri suns.
sheer heaven.

after we ate we snagged some cute photos.

the whole crew!

notice j carr creepin' in the trees!

we did some tree climbing.

have i mentioned how much i love this cute girl?

j carr and i with our lovely dinner.
the best part of the night was j carr and i started to freeze so we "penguin cuddled" meaning we sat shoulder to shoulder to warm up. we each pulled a crusty crust face causing mark and mel to start laughing. they both leaned back hoping that there would be a bar under the table to catch them.
there was no bar.
they both fell right off of the picnic table bench! it was the funniest thing i have ever seen!

j carr and myself

mel and i throwin' some fall leaves.

after that we went and watched paranormal activity 3. just because we had to say that we did it.
p.s. it was a total let down! not even scary.
we ended our night with some intense phase 10,
which i got trashed at.
and i'm proud to say mel and i both were able to sleep in our own beds...
with the lights off.

i'd say it was a pretty good night!

1.11.11

sketchy.

whoever said two people can't fit in a twin sized bed was seriously mistaken.
because mel and i did it last night.

for some reason we let some boys talk us into watching paranormal activity last week.
mel and i joked about how we were going to have to sleep together, but we never did.
instead mel layed in bed wide awake for three hours,
and i slept with my lights on.

[we're wimps]

well yesterday mel realized that she had the attic in her room which basically scared her even worse.
and since it was halloween we let mark and j- carr talk us into watching paranormal activity 2!
but mel and i are stupid.
for some reason we decided that we wanted to explore the attic before watching the movie.
so the four of us explored and when we were a little bit freaked out we sat down and started the movie.

within the first ten minutes it was decided that mel and i were sleeping together.
but here's the scenario:
we both have twin beds.
mel's room has the attic,
but my bed isn't pushed up against the wall which makes it hard for two people to fit on.

but my bed won and so that's where we slept.
both of us cuddled up and scared to death.
and shockingly,
we both slept really good!

paranormal activity 3?
eh i don't think so!

umm excuse me sir,

but you can't dance on me like that...

those were the words that ran through my mind most of saturday night.
the howl is the big party down here in logan that happens every halloween.
i knew it was sketch,
in fact when i told dallin where i was going to attend school last year he told me awesome, but avoid the howl.
so of course since everybody warned me to stay away, i had to go check it out!

well, i'm definitely not in declo anymore.
halloween has turned into girls wearing a bra and underwear with cat ears..
well a bra and underwear if the rest of us are lucky.

and the dance was a grind fest.

not my thing.
but it was fun to go check it out.
but once is enough for me...

i won't be attending next year.

but mel and i did get to wear some super cute outfits.
did i mention we made them by ourselves?

we weren't exactly planning on attending the howl but the day of we got talked into it.
wal mart was basically sold out of every costume and what they did have was ridiculously overpriced.
so i told mel we should just pick up some fabric and sew it ourselves...
so after we had purchased our fabric we went home and draped it across mel who held a model-like pose as i tried to sew down the sides.
then we camped out on her floor for the next few hours sewing the fringe on the bottom.
seriously, a ton of work!
we even made our necklaces!
styrofoam  balls, who would have thought?!

and just so you know,
dog bones are heavy!
i felt like i was carrying a weight around on my head all night!

at least we looked cute!...
and we were covered.

chrissy was britney spears and ky was a biker chick.

as we were all getting ready we walked into the bathroom to see that we all had on matching outfits!

so the howl was fun to experience once.
not my kind of thing,
but i got a cute, new, home made outfit out of it!
