my favorite

i found this photo a few days ago,
and i guess you could say i'm now in love with it.

this temple has been my very favorite since i could remember.
our family was on vacation at disneyland and my dad drove us to san diego so that we could look at the temple.
it's been my love ever since then.
i happen to like it even more than i like my redsox.

whenever times get rough i just have to look at my stash of pictures of this temple and it always helps me to try and follow christ, because there's nothing i want more than to be married in that temple.
[my husband better agree or i'll have to find a new one.]
it's been my dream since i was a kid and i'm not going to change it for the world.

i'm not quite sure why i'm in the strive to go to the temple mood, perhaps it's the holiday season and all the reflecting on jesus i've done lately.
perhaps it's because i get to talk to dallin in two days as he's in argentina serving his mission,
or maybe it's because i know i have a family who isn't all on this earth right now and so we're all striving to be with him again,
but whatever the reason for the mood is, i'm glad i have it.
and i'm glad i have my testimony.
but most importantly i'm glad i have my temple.

and one day i'll be married there,
but until then,
i'll admire it from the outside and remember all of the reasons why i want to go there so badly.

happy holidays!

home for the holidays

so far on my christmas break i've:
played hours of x-box with the cousins.
watched a friend and cousin give their mission farewells.
played scum.
wrestled with my brothers...i've lost every single time, mack has gotten really strong.
had movie parties with my brothers,
and wrapped gifts.

it's been so fun and i love the hours of free time that i just get to hang out with mack and hunter,
i've missed them!

and now i'd like to just give a little post on my two biggest blog creeps.
these two let me know if i haven't posted anything in just two days.
but i'm glad they're keeping up on me.
i love them.

so here's to you al and smelly!

they're basically the two little sisters i never had.

a little bit about the al bag:

she spends countless hours at my house.
she always paints my nails super cute.
she's a scum champ.
she will play just dance with me until 4 a.m.
she's one of the craftiest little gals i know.
she's in a brothers sandwich just like me.
i've considered her a my sister since i can remember.

now for smelly:

she was my job for two years.
she is the funniest and goofiest person i know.
she makes me laugh everyday. without fail.
she is always up for a river run.
she really is taller than me no matter how many times i deny it.
she like ego waffles and orange juice just as much as me. and she ate them every morning with me.
we make the best music videos.

now my favorite things about the both of them is that they are always up for sno asis and bandido runs.
they let me do their hair whenever i want...minus the famous chi bun.
the texts and facebook messages they send me make my day every time i get one.
every time i come home i get to see them and we always have a fun time.
they keep me laughing on my best and worst days.

so you cute girls thanks for everything you've done for me.
i love you more than you know, and trust me i talk about you two all of the time.
keep being the amazing girls you are and know i'm always here for you!
and remember that you're the best "sisters" i've got.

16.12.11

the break has begun!

christmas break has officially started and i could not be more happy!
i took my last final on thursday and i am feeling pretty confident about it.
i had planned on heading home as soon as the break started but i soon found out that my family had some plans of their own.
i found out that they would be headed to utah on friday and then again on sunday and i just did not want to make eight hundred drives from utah to idaho so i just decided to hang out in utah for a few more days.
i called my grandma and asked if i could maybe stay the night there and she told me that would be fine.
as i was driving to morgan my cousin ryan called me and told me that instead of staying at my grandparents i could just go sleep there and hang out with him and jake.
so i made a minor detour and headed to south weber.

i arrived and the next thing i knew we were playing video game after video game...
and pretty soon it was 4 a.m.

now i've never been much of a video game person but last night i was addicted!!
i didn't exactly know how to play i just hit every button my finger could find and it sometimes worked...
i had my fair share of deaths though too.

all i know is maybe it's a good thing i don't have an x-box at school!

14.12.11

just a little post.

i should be studying right about now,
i do have a big final tomorrow,
but after seven straight hours of studying it really gets to you.
and it loses it's fun real fast!
so instead i'll just do a little blog post.

yesterday was chrissy's birthday.
we celebrated by going to texas roadhouse of course.
it's just the new tradition.
we made her ride the saddle and all.
and i got to hang out with these cute girls.

and as of five seconds ago i was just reminded who my best friend was.
you see i painted mel's nails and they were still pretty wet.
but she has a little man friend that she wanted to go see.
the only problem was that she was in her sweats and she didn't want to wear those.
so yea, i just changed mel's pants for her.
took them off and put them on.

and trust me it's a real challenge.
between the jeans and undies,
me looking to the side,
and mel and i laughing as hard as we could.

only something a best friend would do.

and now as i'm typing she just informed me that she had to use the restroom,
too bad sis,
our best friend status has NOT hit that level yet!

...

finals week is hard.
it's even harder when you don't do as well as you had hoped.
and sometimes you just need a pick up,
regardless of the calories.

so here's to a whole pint of brownie ice cream
[thank you ben and jerries.]
and we won't even discuss the size of kyler's ice cream,
the kid needed it.

so here's to you finals week,
soon enough you will be over.
but until then,
hello freshman 15.

but seriously, is it fair to have three finals in one day?
i think not.
on a happy note my lowest grade has been an eighty.
[i can do this.]

10.12.11

smoke troubles

today mel and i decided to make lunch.
i was cooking my specialty, golden brown grilled cheese sandwiches.

unfortunately today i struggled and it ended up being a black, crispy grilled cheese sandwich.
and if that wasn't bad enough mel and i somehow set off the smoke alarm.
one second we were cooking away and the next there is an awful shrieking noise blaring inside our house.

luckily for us ky's boyfriend was over and he ran out and started fanning the devil machine with a pillow.
our poor, poor husbands.

we're now sticking strictly to cereal.

9.12.11

i need to repent.

i feel sick.
i can't even believe what i just did.
seriously i should be cast down to live with satan for the crime i just committed.

you see i drew hunter's name this year for christmas.
[and since i know he doesn't read this blog it's completely fine that i tell this story.]
and i don't like to be the sibling that gives the crummy gifts so i was trying to think of something really legit to give him.
and all i could think of was some crusty crust yankees things.
so i've been putting off looking for his present because it just disgusts me way to much.
but time was running out so today i looked,
and this is what i found.

and i hate it.
and it embarrasses me.
but i knew hunter would love it so i debated buying it for a long time.
and finally i shed a few tears, broke down, and bought it.

so yes, i do win the coolest present ever,
but i think that i am going to go repent now.

8.12.11

perfect.

today has been a great day.
first off we got revenge on our neighbors.
you see a few weeks ago we noticed that somebody has subscribed to get the newspaper. but we don't know if it's our apartment or the boys right across from us.
either way neither us or the boys want the paper.
this has resulted in the two apartments kicking the stack of newspapers back and forth to each others front doors on a daily basis.

the other day as mel and i walked out of our apartment we noticed that the boys had cleaned up all of the newspapers.
we thought that perhaps they had just decided to pick them up and that was the end of it.
well that night mel and i were home alone just getting a little bit of pinterest in for the day when all of a sudden we heard somebody banging on our door.
we cautiously made our way to the door and looked through our peephole..nothing.
we opened the door to find the huge stack of newspapers that they boys had just chucked at our door,

so we had to plot revenge.

mel and i gathered up all of the newspapers and then today we got them back.

first we made our sign and then we started up with the paper.
we then opened up some of the papers and taped them to their door.

after that we started hanging them from the top of the door.

then we knocked, rang the doorbell, and locked ourselves in our house.
no worries we also gave them caramel corn in hopes of a peace treaty...
but to no luck,
we were informed that our caramel popcorn was really good, but the war wasn't over just yet.

and then tonight mel and i got to go and see the movie new years eve...for free because i got a sweet ticket.
the best part about the movie was that mel and i went in and sat down. we started noticing that some of the people coming in were carrying 3d glasses. the girls sitting next to mel and i decided to be real gems and go get us a pair. as the movie started mel and i put on our glasses and started to watch the show.

literally halfway through the show mel leans over and tells me that she doesn't even think the show is in 3d. i take my glasses off and sure enough i can see a lot better without them. i start looking around and i soon realize that mel and i were the ONLY ones in the whole theater wearing the glasses.

only us.

7.12.11

ghosts and hackers.

the other night as i was taking a shower i noticed that my face wash had gone missing.
i figured that either mel or my cousin had misplaced it.
no biggie.
so i didn't say anything.

then the next night i was taking a shower and what do you know...my face wash is back!
not only that but mel's body wash is in my containers!
i was a bit sketched out and it didn't help that i was home alone.

once mel came home from school i asked her about her body wash.
she then told me that it had gone missing a few days ago but she had suspected the same thing i had and just didn't say anything.
when ky got home we asked her about it and she had absolutely no idea what we were talking about.

needless to say we were freaked out.

we then left to go run some errands.

we got home and decided to pinterest and facebook.
and i log onto my facebook i see that i have been hacked.

now all three of us are REALLY freaked out.
first our shower stuff and now somebody is on my facebook.

i start calling my brothers asking if they had maybe logged on and we are all replaying who all had been in our house the last few days.
i suspected that ky's boyfriend must have had to have something to do with the disappearing things but nobody believed me.

turns out my hacked facebook was caused by an alaskan friend who remembered my password,
and i was right...
ky's boyfriend was playing the joke on us.
little stinker!

but now that we look back on all of it, it's pretty funny,
but lets be honest, for a few hours there the three of us were super scared!

matchy.

as we were getting ready for family home evening we soon realized that we were all matching:
head wraps.
gloves.
pony tails.
and coats.
of course we had to take a picture!

and since we had to take a picture we were a little bit late,
which led us to start running to my car.
where i slipped on the ice.
so i was standing in the middle of the parking lot with my legs spread [chinese style.]
i was screaming for help because i couldn't move without falling on my bum!
so ky and mel are laughing hysterically walking towards me.
i think that they are going to help me stand straight but no,
they steal my camera instead.

they did help me stand straight after the picture was taken.

we then went to fhe and played an intense game of wacky 6.
which mel and ky dominated at.
and i had a hard time losing.

good thing i love them.

temple square.

this last weekend garth and george came down to logan for a visit.
we made plans to go to temple square and it was gorgeous!
i love going to temple square during christmas.

it was quite the squishy ride to salt lake,
6 people in a 5 seater,
but at least it was memorable.

the lights were fabulous and the temple was of course gorgeous.
it was such a fun night and i loved every second of it!

and this is by far my new favorite picture:

perfect.

my best friends.

how did i get so lucky to be able to come to college and live with my two best friends?
i am so happy i have them.
i love our jokes and our talks,
and most of all i love that i can come home and remember that i live with my two very best friends.

ky and mel thanks for the laughs, the hugs when i cry, the inside jokes, the cute nails, the acronym made signs, and the always memorable snuggle times in one of our twin beds.
you two are the best friends a kid could ask for and i can't wait for all the new memories!
i love you girls!

6.12.11

bring on the christmas.

when i came home for thanksgiving break my mom showed me this fabulous pile of old christmas decor.
i was free to take anything i wanted.
so i stocked up and once i arrived back in logan we decorated.

we now have lovely star lights,
a tree,
stockings,
and ornaments hanging from the ceiling.

we also made a cute wreath found via pinterest.

i love the holidays!

noshember.

so as the month of october was coming to an end mel and i kept hearing about noshember and how all of the men on campus would soon become scruffy.
mel and i made the joke that we would join them in noshember when we were informed that girls were not allowed to participate.
so this made us want to do it even more.
so i dared mel to do it.
and the kid hates losing just as much as i do so pretty soon we had a bet on which of us could last the longest.
on december 1st at 12 a.m. our competition ended in a tie when we had a shaving party.

[fact: it took us a solid half hour to shave.]

i know you can't see it, but this was our very last picture as wooly mammoths.
we were super crusty with our leg hair.

i did not think it was possible for me to grow that much leg hair!
mel and i waited around the house for two hours just waiting for them time when we could officially shave and not lose the bet. can i just say that i am so happy that we made the bet with an official end date.

caution: viewer discretion is advised for these next few photos.
not only are we nasty for participating in noshember, but we also could not shave without having some sense of proof so yes, we saved our leg hairs.
and there was a ton of hair.
and it was long!
we should have considered donating it to locks of love!

so we're nasty.
no biggie.

i am proud to report that my legs now feel fabulous.
and i now participate in shevry day.
[i shave every single day.]

did you know:
1. leg hair starts out super prickly and when rubbed against something it hurts...and can cut you.
2. leg hair is itchy! seriously, do not even think about calf length socks, skinny jeans, or boots unless you are ready to pay the consequence of hours of itching.
3. leg hair becomes petable after it grows out so long.
4. planning your church outfits around your hairy legs is actually really hard. hello boots, tights, and long dresses.
5. if you sit too close to the fireplace you may singe your leg hairs.
6. you DO look manly.
7. leg hair hurts!!

i will never do noshember again, but it was fun while it lasted.
although i was happy to welcome back my spandex and smooth legs.
