paintballing!

if you read my last post then you know about jeffrey...

all i know is that it's a good thing when i got in to donate he doesn't have to look at my legs, because they're pretty bruised up at the moment.
i went paintballing for the very first time yesterday.
why was i not aware of how fun it was?!

kinsie and i mentioned to the boys that we wanted to go and so of course they set it up.
we headed up to the canyon and found a little course to play on.

we broke up into teams and then the games began!
i'm a little trigger happy... i couldn't just shoot once i had to shoot about twenty different times!
and then i'd be so focused on the one person i was aiming at the i would get drilled from behind!

my legs paid a dear price but it was so worth it!

carter kept kicking everybody's trash and so on our last game we decided that it would be all of us against him. we all turned around and let him go hide and then we started looking for him. i decided to be so sneaky and climb into the woods a ways and then hide behind this rock i had found. as i was making my way through the trees i was looking at kinsie . i looked away and then i heard all these shots being fired at me. i looked back at kinsie and i was yelling, "kins what the crap we're on the same team!" only then did i realize that it was carter shooting at me!

then i got so scared i didn't even try to shoot back i just booked it down the hill...where i fell and kinda rolled down. but i was safe.

luckily.

i cannot wait to go paintballing again!

jeffrey.

i've made a new friend.
clearly his name is jeffrey.
jeffrey is the bruise control man over at the plasma center.

the first time i met him i informed him that i really was fine, i just happened to bruise very easily.
he used to not believe me, he thought that i was just telling him that so that i could still donate.
but trust me, he knows now!

twice a week they have to call jeffrey in to look at the bruising on my arms,
those needles get me every time.
usually my bruises are pretty small and so he just counts it as an arm discoloration and not a real bruise.
well last week when i went in they poked me and missed my vein. because of this they had to start fishing around for my vein and it took them a little bit. it also made my vein swell and so of course i got a monster bruise out of it.
the thing starts curving around my arm. it's not so attractive.

so of course when i went back in this week they called in ole' jeffrey.
we're kind of on a first name basis now.
luckily, since we're buds, he passed me off and just let me donate out of the other arm.
such a gem.

he always tell me that he doesn't want to see me the next time i come in.
so far it hasn't happened yet, but i'm working on it!

here's to happy bruising!

wind caves

i'm not much of a hiker, but due to the fact that carter and chrissy love it i'm beginning to like it a little bit more.
the other day after class chrissy called me and told me that we were going hiking to the wind caves.
we put on our gear and headed out.

it was such a nice day and the hike was fabulous until we got to a bigger hill that was nothing but mud.
ever tried hiking up mud?
it's kind of a slick process and you don't stay on your feet for long.
by the time we finally made it up the hill all three of us had our fair share of mud covering us.

we finally made it to the wind caves and it was gorgeous!

can i just say i am definitely a hater on the hike up, but i love the walk down.
i guess i better get used to think hiking business though, i was informed that there will be a lot more of it once it gets a little warmer.

perfect.

festival of colors!

so i went to alaska last summer.
and made a lot of great friends.
old news, i know.

my point is that i miss them and due to the fact that we live far away i never get to see them anymore.
because of this we had all planned on meeting up at the festival of colors.
the day finally came and carter, dewey, and i all headed down to the hindu temple to get our dance on.
we parked the car and savored our last few minutes of being clean for the day.

there was so many people there and so it was quite the [20 minute] walk up to the temple!
but it was so much fun! all of the people leaving had handfuls of chalk and they would throw it at us as we would pass.
by the time we arrived at the temple we were already a tad bit dirty!

so we arrived and we went and bought ourselves some chalk.
and then the real fun began!
we headed into the huge crowd and danced away to the band.
we lost dewey within the first five minutes due to the fact that he wanted to crowd surf, but it was sure fun to watch him try and crowd surf...he was dropped a few times.

there was honestly chalk flying everywhere! it was in my mouth, ears, and even eyes. but it was a blast! at 4 they did what we had all been waiting for...the throw.
basically they count down from then to one and at one everyone throws a huge handful of chalk into the air.
it's a huge mess and hard to breathe but so fun at the same time.
everyone was covered in chalk but we still just danced away.

finally our group met back up and we were ready to leave,
but we sure were messy!

unfortunately we were never able to find those crazy alaska boys. :( i guess we will have to plan another fun trip to meet up again!
as we were walking out carter and dewey decided to throw the last bit of their chalk on me...in the face.
and then i got hit [in the face] by a few other random people as we were leaving.
i definitely won the face colored contest.

we headed back to the car and headed home.
no worries, we were real thinkers and we had duct taped garbage bags to all of our seats so we didn't completely trash the car!

we dropped of dewey and then headed to carter's house.
the shower was quite the process. my hair had to be washed twice because it was so full of chalk! i would rinse it out and i had purple and pink water!
i had leftover chalk still stuck to my armpits and in my ears.
and lets just say that blowing your nose was a very...colorful process.
[and it still is 3 days later!]

after we had showered both carter and i were sitting in the living room when his family came home.
they saw us and just started laughing saying that our faces looked like we had just been in a fight! as hard as we tried we still looked like we had bruises all over our faces!

it was such a fun day, i will definitely be attending again next year.
and the best part was that it had worn me out!
i slept like a rock that night!

i love when ryan comes.

like i've said before once a month my cousin ryan comes to logan for the weekend.
he comes his job in the military, but he will usually do something with mel and i on saturday nights.
this particular saturday he decided to take us up snowboarding. mel had never been and i haven't been able to go since high school. we were both super excited to go!

that night we got on the life, and ate it as we tried to get off.
luckily though ryan wasn't much better at getting off of the lift.
he had to sit with this poor girl who was by herself. the lift reached the top and she gracefully slid off...ryan on the other hand forgot to get off and so he ended up just jumping off.
he's a big guy standing at like 6'2 and when he jumped he jumped right on his poor little riding buddy.
honestly it was like watching one of those movies where the cop slams into the oblivious person.

definitely the greatest thing i saw all night.

we were bad.
really bad.
we only got to go down the hill twice because it took us so long, but it was so much fun!
i'd forgotten how much fun snowboarding was!
it was such a fun weekend!

i decided to wear my pink boots [from a child's world] up skiing.
the only problem was that they have absolutely no traction on them.
as we were trying to walk down the mountain i was slipping and falling with every step i took. finally ryan gave mel his board and i hopped on his back. things were great until he yelled at mel and said, "hey watch this!"

next thing i know he back flops into a huge pile of powder.
snow up my shirt.
down my pants.
and basically everywhere.

such a gem, that ryan.

spring break!

this year my spring break was so great!
i started it off by going to st. george with a bunch of friends.

chrissy, kins, and i got up there before any of the boys on sunday and so we layed out by the pool for a few hours. it felt so amazing to be out of freezing logan and under the warm sun. finally the boys arrived and we watched selection sunday and the party officially begun. we played a few games of basketball, and then chrissy made us go on a walk because she had never seen a "real plateau" before.

oh those kentucky folk. :)

the next day we woke up bright and early slept in to our hearts content. after everybody was up we headed over to sand hollow to do some cliff jumping. it was super warm outside and so i figured the water would feel the same way...wrong. the water was freezing! but no worries, it didn't stop us.

unfortunately i didn't get many pictures from the trip, but i did get a few from our cliff jumping adventures.

after we cliff jumped for a few hours we headed back to the condo for some serious hot tub time.
...and the hot water felt soo much better than the cold!
that night we had a barbecue along with a little wiffle ball. amazing.

that night at about midnight we decided we wanted to play a game so we started up a game of fugitive.
carter was really the only one who knew his way around st. george and so of course he got nominated to be the cop. it was the funnest few hours of my life!
i dove into random fields, army crawled through the desert, hopped over people's fences, and got lost in a random neighborhood..but i'm proud to say that chrissy and i were not caught once.

the next day was spent playing in the pool. we played water polo and jumped off of the waterfall. basically it was a blast!
that night me, carter, kins, and ryker went fourwheeling. it was so much fun!
they drove us up to the top of one of the mountains and it was so gorgeous up there! i loved it!

unfortunately the next day we had to leave the warm weather behind.
we headed home and then i headed to idaho.
it was so good to be home!
i got to go watch the softball girls play, man i miss that, it was so fun to see all the girls and the coaches!
they even let me come practice with them the next day.
day equaled made!
i also got to spend some time with hunter and mack.
hunter and i went on a little date to cj's and mack and i played card games.
i went up to twin with my mom and dad and we got to take kk out to cafe rio for a birthday lunch!

on sunday i headed back to logan and spent the rest of the day watching march madness.
i was so sad for the week to end, but it really was one of the funnest weeks of my life!

and since i didn't get to take many pictures for anybody that would like to see more of my st. george trip, carter made a legit video that can be found on my facebook page.

check it out! :)

7.3.12

i promise it's fake.

at the beginning of school i started to make a bucket list. throughout the year i've been able to cross a few off. one of the things on my list was to save a life. now i don't know about you, but i totally count donating plasma as saving a life. another one on my list was to face my fear..and needles terrify me.

so i decided to donate plasma...save a life and face my fear.
it was a two for one.

i scheduled an appointment and today at 5:30 i headed in. since it was my first time i was asked a ton of questions and i had to get a physical. i was sitting in a room with the physician and for the past hour she had been asking me questions like:
did i have any tattoos?
did i drink?
have i eaten?
etc.
i honestly think i told her thirty time that no, i do not have a tattoo..and i signed about ten papers saying that once  again, no i do not have a tattoo.
after the questions were over she asked me to lay on the bed so i could have a physical. things were going well and then she asked me to take my shirt off so she could do whatever it was she needed to do. so i took my shirt off and i layed back down.

the next words i heard out of her mouth were: "umm...cupcake tattoo?...please tell me it's fake."

and then it hit me, last night mel, ky, and i put on [fake] glitter tattoos before our basketball game....and of course we had to choose the worst looking ones.
so right on my hip/stomach was the most colorful, bedazzled tattoo in the world.

i was so embarrassed! i instantly started to try and explain but i ended up just stuttering. i don't know what was more embarrassing, the fact that i kept telling her that i didn't have a tattoo, or the fact that she saw the sparkly one on me.

she kept examining me and started laughing and said, "usually i make people rub them so i know they are fake, but i can clearly see the glitter, so you're good."
i am so embarrassed.

moral of the story: don't plan on donating plasma until you've rubbed off your fake tattoo.

2.3.12

she's engaged.

yep, it's true, the "roomies" for next year have now been dropped to two.
we sure will miss ky,
but i'd say she found herself a real gem.

on sunday ky walked over to braden's expecting to meet him and go to an eternal marriage class.
[let's just say that she was less than thrilled.]
she walked into his room and instead of seeing him she saw this.

mel and i followed her over so that we could get pictures and then we were here chauffeurs for the rest of the evening.
he sent her on a darling little scavenger hunt to all different places like where they first met, first kiss, first date, etc. every place had balloons, flowers, a new note and clue, and then a puzzle piece.

the last clue, and final piece to the puzzle sent us to the ice rink.
as we were driving there we were all talking and then all of a sudden mel starts bawling. we asked her what was wrong and between tears she explained to us that she was crying because she was just so excited for kyler...
sure do love that girl. :)

also while we were driving mel and i start getting texts from the boys helping braden telling us that we needed to stall becaues they weren't ready yet. i wasn't quite sure what to do so when i got to the turn i just drove right on past. i looked in my mirror and ky was giving me the weirdest look. i saw that she was about to say something so i just turned up that radio and jammed...she really didn't like that too much...somebody was a little anxious.
wonder why?

finally they were ready and so we headed to the ice rink.
they used my camera to record and carter's to take pictures and so i don't have any photos of braden actually on his knee but trust me, it was presh.
the rink was decorated with christmas lights shaped into a heart filled with 4,000 rose petals.

ky walked in, music was playing, and the lights were dimmed.
braden got down on one knee, and luckily she said yes. :)
heart melting, right?

i'm sure going to miss that girl next year, but i'd say she's going to be just fine without us! :)
