festival of colors!

so i went to alaska last summer.
and made a lot of great friends.
old news, i know.

my point is that i miss them and due to the fact that we live far away i never get to see them anymore.
because of this we had all planned on meeting up at the festival of colors.
the day finally came and carter, dewey, and i all headed down to the hindu temple to get our dance on.
we parked the car and savored our last few minutes of being clean for the day.

there was so many people there and so it was quite the [20 minute] walk up to the temple!
but it was so much fun! all of the people leaving had handfuls of chalk and they would throw it at us as we would pass.
by the time we arrived at the temple we were already a tad bit dirty!

so we arrived and we went and bought ourselves some chalk.
and then the real fun began!
we headed into the huge crowd and danced away to the band.
we lost dewey within the first five minutes due to the fact that he wanted to crowd surf, but it was sure fun to watch him try and crowd surf...he was dropped a few times.

there was honestly chalk flying everywhere! it was in my mouth, ears, and even eyes. but it was a blast! at 4 they did what we had all been waiting for...the throw.
basically they count down from then to one and at one everyone throws a huge handful of chalk into the air.
it's a huge mess and hard to breathe but so fun at the same time.
everyone was covered in chalk but we still just danced away.

finally our group met back up and we were ready to leave,
but we sure were messy!

unfortunately we were never able to find those crazy alaska boys. :( i guess we will have to plan another fun trip to meet up again!
as we were walking out carter and dewey decided to throw the last bit of their chalk on me...in the face.
and then i got hit [in the face] by a few other random people as we were leaving.
i definitely won the face colored contest.

we headed back to the car and headed home.
no worries, we were real thinkers and we had duct taped garbage bags to all of our seats so we didn't completely trash the car!

we dropped of dewey and then headed to carter's house.
the shower was quite the process. my hair had to be washed twice because it was so full of chalk! i would rinse it out and i had purple and pink water!
i had leftover chalk still stuck to my armpits and in my ears.
and lets just say that blowing your nose was a very...colorful process.
[and it still is 3 days later!]

after we had showered both carter and i were sitting in the living room when his family came home.
they saw us and just started laughing saying that our faces looked like we had just been in a fight! as hard as we tried we still looked like we had bruises all over our faces!

it was such a fun day, i will definitely be attending again next year.
and the best part was that it had worn me out!
i slept like a rock that night!
